Suzuki Skywave or Hayate

Today, Suzuki release a new automatic motor in Indonesia. Suzuki Indonesia name his new motor with Suzuki Skyware. This motor is a new variant of the former same type, that is Suzuki Spin. According to any sources, This motorcycle equal to Suzuki Hayate which has been released in Thailand. It's also using a 125 CC four stroke engine.

Modification of Suzuki Shogun 125, this one is really-really from my home town, Karanganyar - Solo. This Shogun belongs to Ryan Dwi P, member of B'CAC (Ban Cilik Auto Concept). He add a front disc brake and chrome almost all of lower components like, shock breaker and engine block.

He use Kyoso shock breaker in the rare and full bass HRP exhaust. To make his motor up, he beleave Tea-Pong from Sukoharjo to do the airbrushing.

Modifikasi Honda Vario kali ini dikirimkan oleh sesorang yang dengan nickname Kiky di forum Varioclub. Tampilan retro motor matic punya Honda ini memang menjadi lebih eye catchin. Tidak banyak perubahan yang dilakukan, bentuk dasarnya masih sama persis dengan versi aselinya. Perubahan yang dilakukan adalah penambahan windshield, box belakang, spion jok, dan velk. Honda CS1,… antara fitur, harga dan target pemasaran

Well… Honda CS1 sudah dilaunching di Surabaya… dan banyak komentar yang pro dan kontra… !!! Yaagh terserah wae… apapun itu… menurut gue dari sisi inovasi pihak Honda.. sudah berani sebagai ‘first mover’ di segment baru ini…!!! Sebagaimana dulu sewaktu kelahiran motor skutik.. !!! Anyway, pada artikel ini gue coba bahaz mengenai tiga hal yaitu fitur alias technical side dari motor ini, kemudian pricing dan terakhir adalah target market share alias penjualan motor ini…!!! So yang mau comment yaagh monggo aza… tapi sebagaimana biasa.. kudu sopan yee… !!! :D

Secara fitur,… Honda CS1 menurut gue sudah memenuhi mindset konsumen… !!! Terlepaz dari design nya… engine yang digunakan 125cc, 4 stroke, SOHC dengan liquid cooled. Compression rationya juga lumayan tinggi nyampe 10.7:1…!!! Power yang dihasilkan tercatat 12.8HP pada 10000RPM…!!! Rem depan belakang sudah pake disc brake, shock belakang sudah monoshock, knalpot sudah racing, velg juga racing.. so mirip laagh dengan feature yang ada pada kompetitor terdekatnya yaitu FU-150..!!! Kalau soal design memang terjadi debatable… !!! Motor yang didesign oleh 3 ahli dari Jepang, Thailand dan Indonesia ini… cukup kontroversial.. !!! Lagh ya.. karena membuat segment baru… cukup unik..!!! Kalau soal design.. gue nggak bisa comment.. soalnya relatif sih.. dan biarkan pasar aza yang menjudge…!!!

Secara harga,… Honda cukup smart… !!! Setelah dikritik.. bahwa jika ngelepaz motor seharga Rp. 17-an jeti… pasar bakalan bereaksi negatif… harga finalnya menjadi Rp. 16.9 jeti on the road…!!! Terlihat bahwa Honda juga mendengar pasar…walau dikit… !!! Dan harga Rp. 16.9 jeti … menurut gue juga ‘pricing test’ … karena bisa saza seperti Supra X 125.. jika kedodoran.. harga toh bisa dikoreksi…!!! So ngapain buru-buru mengkoreksi harga… toh skema kepemilikan masih ada melalui kredit / leasing..!! Ada anak perusahaan yang cukup kuat… dan siap mendukung product ini di pasaran…!!!

Target Market share / penjualan, … cukup menarik untuk dibahas… !!! Yup karena targetnya adalah paling sedikit 15 rebu unit perbulan…!!! Nah ini yang gue bingung… pigimana sih petanya…??? Supra X 125 tuh sekitar 40 rebu unit per bulan,… Jupiter MX 135 sekitar 30 rebu unit sebulan… Shogun 125 sekitar 8 rebu unit, dan FU-150 sekitar 4 rebu unit sebulan…!!! Nagh.. target 15 rebu unit sebulan.. kira-kira mau ngambil market share yang mana…??? Mau itung-itungan sumbangan.. dari FU-150, dari Jupiter MX 135 dan dari Supra X125 sendiri… apa nyampe target segitu… apalagi target 15 rebu unit itu target minimal…!!! Apa bisa 40% konsumen Jupiter MX 135 + FU-150 pindah ke Honda CS 1…??? Beda harga sekitar 2 jeti dibandingkan Jupiter MX 135… ??? Waduuuh.. gue nggak bisa nge-judge deh… biarin aza.. market aza.. dan gue lebih demen memperhatikan angka aza… ntah bulan April atau Mei 2008

Honda Cs1 yang baru, dan yang hangat...

Honda CS1 (City Sport) namanya. Beberapa minggu belakangan di TV banyak menampilkan iklan motor misterius ini. Misterius karena sosok motor tidak ditampilkan sepenuhnya namun berupa siluet-siluet,

potongan-potongan body dan gradasi banyangan m

erah. Honda nampaknya berusaha untuk membuat khalayak penasaran terhadap produk baru ini. Termasuk saya, sangat menanti juga seperti apa wujud dari si misterius tadi. Baru saja akhirnya kepenasaran tersebut dijawab. Trans TV menayangkan launching Honda CS1.

Saya akan sedikit ulasan yang tidak terlalu detail (tabloid motor dan otomotif akan membahas lebih banyak). Sosok lengkap Honda CS1 seminggu lalu sudah saya lihat di Tabloid Ototrend. Di tabloid, foto motor tidak terlihat terlalu bagus. Namun setelah melihat Tran TV cukup keren juga. Spresifikasi dasarnya adalah Hyperunderbone. Istilah dulu orang menyebutnya Ayam Jago. Sekeluarga dengan Suzuki Satri FU 150, Honda Nova Sonic, Yamaha Tiara (masih pada ingat gak?), Suzuki Raider. Mesin yang digunakan konon adalah mesin Honda Nova Sonic dengan kapasitas 125 cc dengan liquid water cooling system. Kopling manual, monoshock, speedometer digital dan rem cakram di kedua roda.

Yang paling unik dari Honda CS1 adalah body yang agak aneh. Pada awalnya saya berpikir Honda akan mengeluarkan motor cowok sekelas Honda Megapro atau Honda Tiger. Honda CS1 adalah perpaduan antara motor bebek dengan motor laki. Bagian belakangnya agak mirip dengan Suzuki Satria dengan lampu belakang tajam dan fender terpisah seperti di Honda Tiger. Namun bagian muka agak terlihat aneh. Secara keseluruhan motor ini nampaknya memang cukup layak dibeli. Kalau saya tidak salah kisaran harnya adalah sekitar 16-17 juta. Lebih mahal dari Honda Supra X 125 yang tercanggih. Sesuai dengan namanya, motor ini adalah motor kota yang dirancang untuk dipakai harian pulang pergi beraktivitas. Cukup gaya dan bahkan sangat gaya. Pastinya juga sangat efektif dipakai meliuk-liuk menerabas kemacetan jakarta di saat jam-jam kerja. Apalagi Honda cukup moderat memilih kapasitas mesin 125 cc alih-alih 150 cc. Jadi semoga saja bensinnya lebih irit.

Dari uraian di atas kans Honda CS1 untuk sukses cukup besar. Pertama ia membawa nama besar Honda, promosi yang cukup intens, model yang agak beda dengan yang lain dan ini adalah produk baru dari Honda setelah terakhir melaunching New Revo awal 2008 lalu. Tapi realita terkadang bisa beda. Masih ingat kan dengan sukses Yamaha Mio yang tidak pernah diduga. Demikian juga dengan larisnya Honda Revo meski pada awal peluncuran banyak yang mencibir miskin teknologi. Belum lagi ceruk pasar untuk Honda CS1 tampaknya tidak terlalu besar. Hanya pria-pria yang mengutamakan speed, akselerasi dan gaya serta yang punya cukup uang. Kalau ada rejeki sih, semoga saya bisa menjadi salah satu pria itu.

The Future (finally) Is Now (sort of...)

Remember growing up and reading those "futuristic" books of how the future would be?

The books were probably printed in the 60's or 70's but they still were in public school libraries when I checked and rechecked them out, repeatedly, in elementary school in the early-mid 80's.

I loved the animated drawings of "Cities of the future" with all the futuristic things they entailed - robots, automated walkways, lots of tubes and really shiny buildings that didn't have things like... edges.

But the coolest thing of all was flying cars.

Between these books and Hollywood movies (Bladerunner had flying cars and it took place in 2010-ish Los Angeles; Back to the Future had flying car modification and it took place in 2015 Hill Valley) we should be on the brink of commuter skyways.

Where are our flying cars? We have no flying cars.

Or do we?

And then there's the issue of parking. But, hey... baby steps, right?

I'd just find it hugely entertaining to see the face of a state trooper as s/he clocks you going about 340 mph.

I think that we're still a long way off from affordable flying cars. Once again, technology, economics and real-life trump hollywood. But maybe that's a good thing. We've all seen morons not able to handle simple things like traffic signs, HOV lanes and not putting down their cell phones.

Trilogy Sticks With MTV Networks for Virtual Pimp My Ride

-Videogame software developer Trilogy Studios announced it will continue to collaborate with MTV Networks on MTVN's Pimp My Ride virtual world, which it helped launch.

Virtual Pimp My Ride features the same larger-than-life, West Coast-style car modification that popularized the MTV show of the same name. It also lets users personalize avatars and race their vehicles in multiplayer challenges. According to the company, Trilogy will help evolve the world, adding new features, additional functionality and "a deeper level of engagement."

The announcement marks an expansion for Trilogy's virtual world software development studio, which is aimed at developing new virtual world properties for media companies. "We’ve developed a business model that enables media companies to successfully monetize their franchises through virtual world networks including micro-transactions, in-game advertising and sponsorships, premium subscriptions and e-commerce," said Michael Pole, Trilogy's Chairman and CEO.

Car insurance quotes for Modded cars

Here is a long overdue article. Car insurance - all policies state "Has the car been modified, altered or adapted from the manufacturers original specification or has it been tuned.

All insurers need to know if a car has been modified. The stats of the insurers generally show that modified cars are involved in more claims, not just accidents but there is a greater likely hood of the car being nicked. There is also the possibility that lower suspension or wider wheels could adversely affect the handling of the car so the model they rated and gave a group to does not apply to your unique vehicle. So an underwriter needs to agree 'terms' of cover.

Any modification to your car must be notified to your insurers or you risk invalidating your cover.

Even stickers could represent a 'Moral hazard' to the insurers. Failure to notify insurers could render your insurance invalid leaving you to face prosecution for failure to buy adeqate car insurance for your vehicle or if a claim is paid on your behalf they could well ask for reimbursement of amounts paid out for you so even if you are Third Party Only you could lose out.

Insurance - notification of modifications.

When getting car insurance a little paranoia is a good thing. Always keep a copy of all correspondence sent/received in response to a modification being notified to your car insurers. It is helpful if you can detail every modification and even supply a rolling road printout to allow the underwriter to assess your car.

Some car insurers may offer car insurance quotes at normal terms (no extra premium), Apply terms (extra premium, & or higher excess & or agreement to replace modified parts with standard parts.

State honestly what you have done to your car insurance company when you get a quote but think about how you disclose the modifications. For example you might note that a SPORTS EXHAUST is the same thing as a 3inch bore stainless steel exhaust with a 25 year guarantee. (One sounds much better to an insurer than the other.) As does the difference between a high performance air filter and washable direct replacement air filter. If a chip increases MPG state this as your primary reason for upgrading rather than mention this as a side effect and then state that it also gives slightly more power as a secondary reason. Car insurance companies, contrary to popular belief to want to insure people they just don't like taking on too much extra risk and most of the decision making is done by a person who reviews each case on its own merits.

How do insurers set rates for modified cars and custom cars?

When setting a car insurance premium for a modified car, an insurer will also look at the base car you started from - diesels are favoured over petrol. A £500 car with a £1000 ICE install and £2000 worth of 20 inch alloy wheels is an obviously increases the risk of the car going 'missing' and most insurers would refuse this unless you agree that they can replace the nicked items with standard parts. When you drive a Group 20 car costing £30,000 and add £2000 of alloy wheels and a £1000 ICE install they are less likely to impose terms. And if the car already does 0-60 in 4 seconds and you modify it to go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds again there is little weight to the argument of an increased premium.

Car insurers want to see enthusiasts that love cars and look after them rather than the boy racer who wants to impress his mates in the 7/11 car park.

Getting car insurance cover first and then applying modifications later to the car often means the insurer will listen to you whereas they would refuse a new person with no record. Obviously you need to choose a sympathetic car insurer and there are no guarantees but ask you friends who they insure with. Buying an already modified car is also a good bet - you didn't do the mods so theoretically are not so much of a risk to the insurance company.

Modified friendly insurers - Norwich Union, Adrian Flux - if you have any others please let our other Torquecars members know in our forum. Many Lloyds syndicates will also be willing to listen and offer you personalised terms. It is certainly worth contacting a large Broker and let him do the searching and negotiating for you. For standard cars the insurance supermarkets give excellent ranges of prices and make shopping around easier.

Kiat Menang Kontes Modifikasi

Memenangkan kontes modifikasi adalah salah satu cita-cita pemilik motor maupun modifikator yang serius mendandani motornya. Kemenangan tersebut bisa menggambarkan prestasi tertinggi sebuah modifikasi. Bisa mendatangkan kebanggaan alias pride. Paling tidak, kepuasan batin bisa diraih setelah dana, waktu, pikiran, dan tenaga telah tercurah selama ini.

Namun demikian, tidak mudah memenangkan sebuah kontes modifikasi. Dibutuhkan persiapan yang memadai atas tunggangan anda. Jika tidak, hasilnya akan jeblok. Di samping itu ada baiknya mengerti kriteria penilaian untuk sebuah konteks modifikasi yang profesional. Bagaimana itu?

Pada dasarnya semua konteks modifikasi mengenal 3 kriteria dalam melakukan penilaian alias penjurian. Tiga hal yang menjadi scoring juri adalah: Kategori, Ide, Eksekusi. Jika pada setiap kriteria anda memperoleh nilai tertinggi alias nilai maksimal, dapat dipastikan andalah jawaranya.

1) Kategori

Jika anda mendaftarkan motor modifikasi, perhatikan baik-baik kategori apa yang cocok (kecuali untuk memperebutkan best of the best atau kelas free for all). Kategori ini layaknya kamar mandi bagi anda. Tidak mungkin anda masuk kamar perempuan, jika anda laki-laki, dan sebaliknya. Jangan sampai motor modif yang sangar anda daftar di kategori kinclong. Bisa terdiskualifikasi dengan sendirinya. Anda bisa dianggap butuh belajar lagi atau minimal acuh tak acuh.

Untuk tiap-tiap kategori yang tersedia, sangat bergantung pada panitia penyelenggara. Ada kategori kelas (bebek dan motor sport), ada kategori tema (kinclong, ekstrim, ceper, dsb), ada juga kategori aliran (techno, old school, brutal, dsb). Jika populasi motor modif diperkirakan tidak banyak, maka kadang-kadang semua jenis kategori digabung. Namun makin optimis panitia akan jumlah peserta, maka makin banyak kategori yang disediakan.

2) Orisinalitas Ide

Dalam setiap modifikasi, gagasan baru sangat dihargai. Namanya orisinalitas gagasan. Artinya, modifikasi yang diajukan tidak basi, alias sudah banyak yang mengaplikasi. Orisinalitas ini bisa mengacu pada penggunaan barang baru yang masih jarang, atau teknik modifikasi yang baru, atau bisa juga model body maupun kaki-kaki yang baru.

Bagi yang sering mencoba gagasan baru ini, biaya modifikasi akan tinggi. Hal ini karena menyangkut trial and eror yang lumayan banyak untuk memperoleh aplikasi ide baru. Tidak jarang mengorbankan sejumlah barang modifikasi hanya untuk mendapatkan master modifikasi untuk model yang baru.

2) Eksekusi

Salah Satu komponen penilaian yang memiliki nilai tertinggi adalah eksekusi. Artinya meskipun kategori sudah benar (alias tidak salah kamar) atau ide orsinal (artinya tidak asal jiplak), namun apabila teknik, detil, komposisi modifikasinya masih ngawur, maka bisa dipastikan akan gagal memperoleh tempat terhormat.

Kehati-hatian, kesungguhan, dan pengalaman adalah kunci agar eksekusi modifikasi benar-benar sesuai ide yang diharapkan dan hasilnya tidak mengecewakan.
